Left out in the cold

I app**** for a home loan at Nedbank earlier this year(March). I had found a new place to stay but it needed to be renovated in order for it to be occupiable. Added to this home loan was an amount of R100k that was going to be used for the home renovations. This full amount was approved with no problems and I signed for this amount at the bank branch in Montana, Pretoria.

The transfer of ownership was finalised this month and the property owners received their money from Nedbank. I met with people who are supposed to do renovations to my new home since I am moving in end of this month. But now all of a sudden Nedbank is giving me stories when they have to release the additional funds that were approved ages ago. Now they claim the money was taken back since it has a time limit, how was the money for the property not taken back by the bank as well? I have been on the phone with the bank the whole week, with each person giving me a different story and now they want my payslips that go back 3 years, which seems utterly ridiculous.

I can not occupy my new home without these renovations and now I do not have access to the funds needed to have these done. The result will be me and my child not having a place to stay by the end of this coming week.

I have been a client with Nedbank for more than 20 years now and this is my first home purchase and it has become a nightmare because they simply do not want to stick to the promise of funds they made to me, funds that were app**** for, funds that were approved and signed for. I am not happy with the kind of treatment they have given and I would not advise anyone I care about to be with this bank after my experience. I just want them to release the funds that were agreed on so that renovations can be done to my new home.

Hi,
I am not sure what Nedbank is trying to do but on Saturday when i went to the branch to try and get resolution, I was then offered a personal loan for the same amount that was initially added to my home loan; why is it now I am offered a much more expensive personal loan and i was told stories about the amount that was signed and agreed on when i app**** for my home loan. Even an hour ago, a different person from the Montana branch called, offering me a personal loan still.
It is very clear that Nedbank is just very eager to make as much as they can out of me. An agreement was signed for that amount and it will be honored. If this is not done by close of business today...I am going to make more noise than you have ever heard before, to everyone who will listen and every social platform; its high time big brands like yours get exposed for *********** and benefitting from people in need.
