IT DOESN'T GET ****TIER THAN NEDBANK!!!!!
Hi,
On the 5th of September 2020, while doing an application for credit I downloaded my credit report from one of the credit bureau. To my shock and horror there in lay a marker that indicated that Nedbank had listed me as a slow payer for the month of July 2020. Well, at first I did not panic, you know this must be some sort of mistake and a simple Whatsapp or email to my private banker would sort this issue out. Boy, was I wrong, what would follow were a series of horrors that not only exposed Nedbank's incompetence but also the fact that client care and good customer service is their number one enemy. Below is what followed:
I contacted my banker via Whatsapp on Saturday morning on the 5th September 2020, inquiring about this issue, she then promised to check it on Monday with the credit department for clarity - First red flag, why have a so called "premium service that is not available 24/7" On Monday morning as promised, I then followed up with her, as to the status of the inquiry, only received feedback on the Tuesday, that I would get a letter putting this fixing this issue. On the morning of 10th September, I received a letter that only indicated that the account is paid up and up to date. I then went bank to my banker and expressed my dissatisfaction to this fact and asked that this be corrected, and again I had no reply. I then picked up the phone and called the complaints department and asked what was happening, I spoke to one Tarryn, who said she cannot help me and said she would have her team leader call me to fix the issue within a couple of hours, and AGAIN surprise surprise, no one returned my call until the next day when I now send an email, then the "team leader" calls me, to tell me that she also doesn't know what is happening and that they have to put me through to the complaints department, Now this is the part where it is laughable, the lady at the complaints department then tells me that she has to go find out from the collections department what the issue is and how it can be resolved. I call my banker and send her an email to request that my credit card account be closed immediately as I have no patience with dealing with people who think they can take my money for a service and when it is time to provide that services, I am taken from pillar-to-post-then-to-pillar again, with no straight answers, On Monday morning just around 09:00, I get a call from Mofet from the complaints department, and guess what? After having told my story numerous times, the guy still ask me what the issue is, I go on to explain to him what the issue is, and I ask him a simple question that legal Nedbank as a FSP is bound by the NCR and is required to follow all applicable laws therein, so I ask him what happened to following regulation 19(4)a of the National Credit Regualator, which stipulates that prior to adversely listing an individual on the ITC, that individual must be sufficiently notify. My friend Mofet, then changes direction and starts pointing a finger at me, that I am wrong and that I should have paid my account, blah blah blah, essentially moving away from the fact that Nedbank might be potentially breaking the law and wanting to get a scapegoat out of it, anyways, my conversation with Mofet as well was just as useless, providing no answers and the only development was that I was now being blamed for Nedbank not complying to its legal obligations. And AGAIN Mofet will get his superior to call me.
Throughout the call my issue that needed to be resolved, was: a. When Nedbank decided to rush to the ITC and list me as a late payer on an account that was due on the 4th of July 202 and I made a payment on the 6th of July 2020, where was the courtesy of calling me as a client who has never missed a single payment in all the time that I have been a client with them? OR this is how Nedbank repays loyalty? a kick in the guts? b. Throughout my engagements with Nedbank, I am always told that this listing is due to a payment that was missed in May, and again I ask why was it reflecting on the July ITC, only today does Useless Mofet inform me that the listing is with regards to the July payment circle, if they can't get a simple issue as a date correct, really a lot is left to wonder!
c. My biggest issue now on this is that on both the dates indicated I had sufficient funds in my account to service the debt, as always has been, I might have missed it, but does that mean now that Nedbank can now trample on my rights as a consumer as provided for in the NCR 19(4)a? I mean if they can boldly do this and refuse to rectify it, what else are they capable of?
d. On Friday, the 11th of September, I put in two request to close up my account and this again is still open!!!!
I have had bad service before but Nedbank takes the cup!!!!!
