Info withheld from customers
My dissatisfaction fomes from the tendency of banks to withhold information from customers upon signing up for new business.
When my husband and i opened a 32 day notice account at Nedbank Carlswald, we were told that in the event of an emergency, an early release of funds is possible if we furnish proof thereof. We have recently bought a house and went through to put in notice. We explained to the consultant the reason for the notice and that since we have not yet received confirmation from the transferring attorneys on yhe way forward, we will probably come back and put in an immediate release and incur the penalty. She indicated that and email confirmation plus transfer fee statement will be sufficient proof.
Fast forward to then requesting for the early release, the consultant tells us that National Authority declined the application because our case is NOT DEEMED AS AN EMERGENCY. All the info provided to us was in actual fact incorrect. This has left a very bitter taste in my mouth as incorrect information was provided to us, inconveniencing us even more.
I am very unhappy. Furthermore, the bank indicates that i am unable to close the account as i would need to do so at the branch where the account has been opened. With this type of service and information that creeps up at the convenience of the bank, i will be moving my funds elsewhere as i am not in favour of one sided relationships.
