******* Debit Order - Nedbank collecting debt for Ackermans

On Sunday 20.08.2017 @02:01 am Nedbank debited my account with what I see as an ******* debit order. I have recently opened this account and have authorized no debit orders on it. I phoned Nedbank today at 11:42 where they explained to me that the debit order was created by themselves, and was for a debt I owed Ackermans from 2006. This raised a huge alarm as this debit order was never even mentioned to me, they just deducted it and now refuse to refund it.

Since when does a bank play debt collector for other businesses? Any outstanding debt matter needs to be addressed via attorneys and courts. According to their legal department they finance Ackermans, and therefore have the right to deduct any debt still owed to Ackermans. If you happen to be a Nedbank client owing a debt to Ackermans, then they will deduct it without your consent or any notice or any legal document to state any claims what so ever.

I also believe that my rights regarding the Popi Act were violated and that Nedbank shared my information with Ackermans, unless Nedbank does their books as well. They even argued that when I opened the account I signed off that information could be shared with Ackermans. I still have the documentation I signed when I opened the account, Ackermans is not mentioned anywhere.

In no way did Nedbank follow PASA's mandate to obtain a legal debit order. They are deducting funds from our accounts as pleased without using legal means to do so.

I will be closing my account and seeking legal advice for this matter, even more, warning Nedbank clients in my family and friends circle of Nedbank's disregard for the law.
