HonFee

I am a cheque account holder of Nedbank. I do not have an overdraft facility on my account. Reason being I do not want to use money I don't have. On the 21st of July I attended a friend's engagement party at a restaurant in Fourways. To my fullest knowledge I had funds that allowed me to transact. On my way to the party I poured petrol for R120 and at the restaurant I swiped for R200. Both transactions went through. To my shock and surprise, two days later when I check my statement, R180 has been deducted as HonFee. I phoned through and when I spoke to customer care I was told it is charged for using money I don't have. My transactions went through because I had funds. Who goes to a filling station and a restaurant with no funds? To the best of my knowledge, I do not have a facility that allows me to use funds I don't have. I believe Nedbank is unfairly making money out of me. Why didn't their system reject the transactions. Instead I am told I must always check my accounts. R180 is a lot of money and I need an explanation better yet my money back.
