Greenbacks is a frustrating, time consuming ****

During July 202 I wanted to redeem some Greenbacks online for our son's birthday. What a nightmare... The item was on promotion / clearance and I tried multiple times to order / redeem. Nedbank call centre agents kept changing stories and even advised that there isn't a dedicated Greenbacks division to assist with queries. "Solutions" ranged from having to order a Greenbacks card, this delayed the redemption process as I had to wait for the card to be sent to the branch, then had to take time to stand in a long qeue to collect, etc. This didn't work. One of the "trained" consultants advised that I can purchase the item in store with the card, I then advised that the reason I want to redeem online is because it is substantially cheaper, only to be told again I can go buy in store. Then another agent advised that I have to download the app in order to redeem, I don't want yet another app and also asked what about people who don't have smartphones - what would the piont of Greenbacks be for them? Anyway, also a lllloooonngggg series of emails, with a wacky response from each new agent not bothering to read what the issue is resulted in so much time wasted. When I did, very reluctantly, install the Nedbank app the item wasn't available from there, only listed online. More lengthy phonecalls with more inept agents. Anyway, our son's birthday passed (three months later) and the item was eventually delivered. His (7 year old) response was "why do they not care about childrens' birthdays Mommy?" It took so long to earn Greenbacks as the earning rate is so low compared to other rewards schemes by other banks, with FNB it's been seamless - I've purchased a double door fridge, spinning bike, oven & hob, multiple vouchers, etc. with not much less spent...
