********** Transactions

********** Transactions on my Account.

Please find below an email sent by myself to Nedbank Management after 5 ********** transactions, totalling R14000 occurred on my account on 10 November last year. After over 5 months I have finally received a telephonic response, after repeated requests, with which I was dissatisfied and asked for a full written response by Nedbank management.

Good Day Merina,

Confirming our telecon of 11 Nov, 22.last week, I have a few serious concerns regarding the above.

a) I received a cell phone call from a supposed Nedbank employee, intimating that there was a ********** transaction being attempted on my bank account. This proved to be false but it begs the question as to how this person obtained my name, cell phone number & account number in the first place?

b) After some discussion, I was given some 'info" and info was also requested in order to block both the transaction and my account. I cannot recall exactly what information was exchanged but I was given a "Nedbank employee No." and Ref. No. for this attempted ********** transaction and was informed that they were blocked (which was untrue as these were the ********).

c) I received a SMS a little later informing that my Nedbank ID had been suspended.At virtually the same time, I received a SMS confirming that a transaction for R3000 was processed on my card ending 277 at Pine Crest Centre. 2 Minutes later I received a further SMS confirming that another transaction for R2000 was processed on the same card & at the same place.

d) I immediately called *** to question these transactions which I knew to be ********** and eventually, after a waiting time of some minutes, the very helpful lady from Nedbank who answered, confirmed she had blocked my account & cards and tried to connect me to the ***** dept. After a further wait of several minutes listening to the phone ringing, it just cut out and died without a response. I immediately, called back, and, after another wait of several minutes another Nedbank employee answered and put me through to the ***** section at my request. Once again, the phone rang for several minutes and the call was dropped once again. I then rang back the 3rd time & after explaining the dropped calls, the lady informed me that she would connect me to ***** but would stay on the line until it was duly answered. Eventually, after another time lapse of several minutes the call was answered by Nedbank employee Marcel who proved to be very helpful and confirmed that my account had indeed been blocked. I explained the R5000 total of ********** transactions which had occurred on my account and, to my utter astonishment, he informed me that there were another 3 ********** transactions of R3000 each on my account before it was blocked..

This raises further questions for Nedbank management, viz;

Why did I never receive the relevant SMS's informing me of these additional transactions which may have assisted in thwarting the *******? Until this point in time, I have never received any notification whatsover of these additional ********** transactions and only my eventual call to Marcel highlighted these transactions. There is obviously a problem with these lack of notifications which has to be addressed before further ****s on honest people take place. In order to prevent further ********** transactions,

I request that Nedbank management critically investigate the following and provide feedback, viz;

1) The personal information leakage. 2) The telephonic delays in responding to phone calls to report such ********** transactions 3) The dropped calls whilst awaiting the ***** dept. 4) The fact that 3 serious ********** transactions occurred on my account without myself ever being automatically informed.

I await management's response,

Yours sincerely,

Alex Todd
