********** Nedbank Credit Card in my name is stopping me from buying my dream home.

I was contacted by Nedbank with regard to an unpaid Credit Card. This was the first time I had heard about this as I have never banked with Nedbank nor opened a Credit Card with them. Upon further conversation it seems that the caller had suspected that it was ***** and thus I was told to take proof of my identity to the bank or email it to the Credit Card ***** email.

I took the required documents into my nearest branch and confirmed that an account had been opened in my name. The documents were forwarded onto the required address and I left satisfied that an investigation was underway.

Later I received a phone call from a representative claiming that the documents had proved that it was not me who had opened the account and that the ***** case was underway and I would be notified after it was concluded.

However recently I put in an offer on a house and upon the necessary credit checks this Nedbank account was still in my name with no indication that it was not mine. Again I went into the Nedbank branch to obtain a letter from them to verify the ***** case was under investigation so that I could notify my bond originator as part of my application to the various bank, including Nedbank.

My frustration was that they were unable to supply me with this and it is holding up my entire bond application. This could lead me to losing out on the home and now that I have also put in my notice at my current rental property, I may end up with no fixed abode.

All I require is for the bank to acknowledge that the investigation is still ongoing and that they know it is ***** (as I was told over the phone) or to remove the account from my name with the Credit agencies. The branch was unable to track the case number with their own bank.

I need this resolved as quick as possible so that I can continue with my home purchase.

Regards

Sean
