********** Debit Orders and Bank Charges

I have been having **********, unauthorized debit orders taken from my Nedbank saving account for the past 5 months. because I do not pay a fee for notification, I was unaware of the charges. While searching for something else, I found the charges, along with R16 bank charge for each ********** debit order, (which there were 2 per month). When I went to Nedbank to have the charges reversed, they wanted me to pay R5 - R30 for each order to be reversed and R50 for each stop order, (which they could not guarantee would work) and they refused to reverse the bank charges for the ********** orders. Nedbank asked me to contact Hollards Insurance myself to find out why they were debiting my account but only gave me contact details for the orders after the branch manager called the trace unit.

The situation is still unresolved after 3 visits to Nedbank including visiting the branch manager. Because of this I promptly opened an account with Old Mutual and will close down my accounts with Nedbank as soon as possible. I have been with Nedbank for 11 years and am shocked at how they allow such ***** to carry on even when alerted to it and expressed no remorse or concern that it is a common practice, (obviously because they benefit from it, as does the ********** insurance company). I believe that the bank must have provided my account details to Hollards...how else would they have known which was the most susceptible account to target? Good bye Nedbank.

Nedbank reversed their charges but would not reverse the ********** debit orders. Since I did not give my banking details to Hollard it must have been someone at Nedbank.

I have opened a case with SAPS. Hopefully they will find out how Hollards got my banking details. However only Nedbank and I have that information and I did not give Hollards the information, so do tue math.

By the way it was Nedbank who gave my money to Hollards without my permission. Maybe Nedbank could call Hollards and investigate hpw they got the information. No that would be the right thing to do and it would cost time and effort, I must do that. Oh and if I want to have Nedbank block any debit orders from my bank account, they say they do not do that. So if I want notification when someone *****s my money I have to pay more for that.
