First installment bond date

Hi Nedbank Homeloans,

I recently purchased a house with a Nedbank. After almost a wait of more than 6 months, my bond got registered this month. My bond application was approved back in April but for some reasons, it only got registered on the 15/10/2018 and 2 days later I get an eStatement from Nedbank about my first monthly repayment being the 1st of the next month which is November. I then wrote an email to the person who was helping me with my application, but instead, he rep**** by referring me to the bond department. I felt that, as a person who was the go-to person from day one, the least he could have done was to assist especially since he knew what really transpired with this transaction. After so many months of delays, and I have even made Nedbank aware of the delays, but no one bothered to come back to me to allay my concerns.

Much as the house now belongs to me now, and I’m obligated to make monthly payments of which I'm ready to do and fulfil that but my issue with Nedbank is communication. I feel they should have at least got in touch with me and to find out my current arrangement in terms of accommodation. I have already paid for the whole month where I stay, and Nedbank will also debit my account. I feel that, if a bond is registered in the middle of the month it should only go off my account a month or 2 later based on the arrangement one can go into with the bank. It's not like the bank is not going to get their money at the end of the day. The money will still be yours, consideration in these things will go a long way and attract many clients. I don’t see how a bank can work on a basis as from the date of registration to the first installment at the end of the following month. I feel like I’m being penalized for the house registration delays.

Please assist.

Dear Frans

Kindly note that the registration which is done for your bond is done with the deeds office. Kindly also refer to your signed agreement which gives you an indication of the process. You would of signed and agreed to this process at the attorneys. We will however arrange for a Resolution Manager to contact you within business hours to discuss this matter.

Dear Client Service Support, My main issue or gripe with you is that I feel as the bank you are inconsiderate in how issues of this nature are handled. Say that, my bond was registered on the 31/10/2018, will I still be expected to pay the monthly repayment on the 01/11/2018 for October? You end up paying double for accommodation and the new property. I'm still waiting for the resolution manager to comeback to me. Best Regards, Frans

Hi, I would like to thank Claudine Pillay, from Nedbank who attended to my query or my unhappiness regarding the first installment bond date. After she gave me a call, and true to her word she send me an email to keep me in the loop about the matter. She even escalated the matter to the upper echelons within the organisation and amicable solution was sought for both parties and today I would like to thank her and the bank for their understanding and speedily resolving the matter. Thanks again. Frans

Hi Nedbank,

I'm very unhappy with how you have suddenly went quite knowing very well that you have debited my account twice. I was hoping that you would use the same vigor to return my money and it has been over 2 weeks of inconvenience. When are you going to return/reverse the extra debit to my account, and now my money has earned you interest for the past 2 weeks and what about me? I'm really ****ed with how you do business. It took you only a day to chase after the money to the extent that you contacted Standard bank, but you couldn't do the same when you realised that the Nedbank debited my account twice and pay back into my account the extra cash. Can you please ensure that the money is paid by tomorrow?

Hi Nesbank, thank thought we have an understanding but today I was surprised when Nedbank went against their word. On Konday I called your Homeloans department to let them know that as per the sms that was sent that I won’t be able to pay or get money deducted on the 28 of the month since I’m only getting paid on the last day of the month. The lady who helped me assured me that they won’t be doing any debits on my account. Today was got an alert to show that Nedbank went ahead and debited my account. Now my account is in the negative and my bank will also penalize me. Why should Nedbank behave like this, I don’t control the calendar, they must relax whether the debit day falls on a weekend how is that my problem? Why can’t they just debit me n the agreed day. Why so impatient? Now I’m going to carry a negative and a penalty because of them, our debit agreement is the last day of the month. Please keep to your side of the agreement and stop inconveniencing us. I’m disgusted at this, even after I made efforts that they should wait until month end, which is only on Monday. Mxm!

Below, is the text that was sent and I made it a point to make arrangements but still they ignored that :

Nedbank. Important change: As the debit order date for your Nedbank Home Loan ********* falls on a weekend, we will move it to 28 Jul 2023. Unable to pay it on this date? Call us on *** before 24 Jul 2023 and we can make an arrangement. Your financial peace of mind matters to us. This what irks me the most.
