False advertising and prejudice

Nedbank are currently running a radio campaign for personal loans up to R 200,000. I just contacted the call center and had to go through 3 different people. After being asked if i was self employed, the agent refused to continue as Nedbank do not give loans to self employed people! Even though i have been self employed in the same industry for 23 years and i have 2 cheque accounts, two credit card accounts and two cars financed with them. I have never given them any reason to see me as a bad client. How can i be a bad risk just because i am self employed? Is it not a lot more risky to give a loan to someone who can be retrenched at any time, considering the current economic environment? Would it not make more business sense to look at the person and their history and make a decision, not base it on 'ticking boxes'? It is totally illogical. A call center agent with a computer decides on who to give loans to and how much you will pay. The advertising is false and they should mention that you should not apply if you are self employed. However, your staff are welcome to apply. I can pay salaries, but i can't get a loan from Nedbank!
