Failure to close cheque account

On Tuesday last week I attempted to close my Nedbank cheque account. I used the chat function and was asked to phone the contact Centre. I did just that and the contact Centre said I have to go to an actual branch. I decided I would take the day off and go to the branch that day. I went to the Northgate branch. I was assisted by a consultant who printed out two forms for me to sign. After this was done she convinced me that my account was closed and my profile was deleted. She also said I should tear up my card which I did. A few days later I got an sms notification of money coming into that same account. This was for a petrol claim I had done at my job and they had forgotten to update my details on their side. Since my account was closed I assumed the money would bounce back and they would redeposit into my new account. That didn’t happen and when I called the contact Centre they could pick up that there was a ticket logged to close the account but that this was not done. They urged me to go to the bank and ask for a temporary card so that o can withdraw the amount. I don’t have time to do this and took the only day I could get off on Tuesday last week. I assumed Nedbank had taken care of everything but am disappointed this isn’t so. I know you will also charge me for running this account for an extra month and even withdrawing money from it. I don’t have the money to pay these fees and all o want is to get my money back and close this account once and for all
