Do customers really need to chase banks?

Its a rare occasion when a customer consistently needs to follow up on their credit card application with a bank. Unfortunately I have been exposed to such levels of service with Nedbank. I had app**** for a credit card at Nedbank The Glen (who btw were Great!) on the 11/01/2016. I had been advised that a credit card application usually takes around 7 Business days to process or 10 normal days. I had called in every 2 days to find out the status of my application and had been notified the verification team have contacted me but my phone just rings. My phone is my business companion and I had purposely checked my voice mail to verify their claim which I verified as inaccurate. I had previously fully paid up my Nedbank Credit Card and closed the account 2 months ago. I had serviced this facility with pride, and now I ask for the same level of service back in re-applying for a new credit card, or are 'fast-paying' clients such as myself not the banks target client? Is this the type of service one should receive after 'proving' themselves?
