Dissatisfied renovations

In mid dec 2023 I had a small fire in my kitchen whereby the middle section of my cupboards were damaged and smoke overlaid the whole top part of it. The accessor and contractor came out immediately and within the week the claim has been approved. However, as it was holiday season, the contractor could not start immediately. Long story short, they are now busy and the walk thru and what was discussed seperately with them, differs as between the two of them they decided what was best without confirming exactly what has been approved for renovation. The time period has also now been extended as the manufacturer of the cupboards are re-opening later this month, as if that's the only supplier. They do not care how I'm surviving and just apologise as the rest of the house if habitable. Where my meals are coming from or having to live like squatters. I have expressed my urgency as I host exchange students and she had to postpone her visit. She has celiac disorder and cannot have her eating habits contaminated. This is not their concern as they can only do what was accessed. The other side of my kitchen which has smoke and dust on the upper cupboard was "cleaned" without being taken off. I have taken it upon myself now to do properly as I am living in these conditions. As to sink unit was done by my husband due to a burst drainage pipe 6 months ago, understandably, they won't entertain. Now it looks like I'm holding out for a brand new kitchen but all they're giving me is one side new and I can just make do with the other side. This is what us humble people must expect as we're not the client, we're just mere paperwork
