Discount amount

I contact Nedbank to pay my credit card as it was in arears as I was unemployed and could not make payments. I recieved some money which I wanted to settled my account as my account is now collected by the attorney. Previous I was making payments until April 2019. The amount is now r39000. I cannot afford that as I asked for a discount. The attorney says that Nedbank must give them a settlement amount. I spoke to Nedbank and they say the attorney must give me a settlement amount. I asked the attorney office Gracious was assisting me to ask Nedbank for a reasonable discount as I donot have R39000 to pay them as I recieve a commision and I won't be able to pay this account. Many of the people I spoke to has told that the bank can give you a discount. It doesn't make sense as I told the lady I got R30 000 which I am.willing to pay it into the credit card however they can not give a discount. It doesn't make sense as my account stands now I'm in arears. And I can't make monthly payments because as I mentioned I donot have a fixed salary.. The bank refuses to discount me. SO instead of collecting some money from me, they choose to not understand my situation. I can't understand as many ppl have told me that there banks do give them a discount. My own bank helped me with a discount on paying my credit card as I explained to them. So they collected part of their money. I can't make payment arrangements as I don't have a guaranteed income. Please assis me urgently
