Disappointing Banking Experience
This past weekend I did a few transactions on my Nedbank account and I paid using my cheque account and paid with my cheque account, all went through and life continued, Monday I withdrew cash using Send-Imali and that was fine as well because as far as the app was concerned iI had a positive balance.
Today I get a call from credit department of Nedbank saying my account is overdraft and I cant understand, so I have a look and all the transactions that I did on Sunday, where not debited from my account and put aside waiting for clearing, they were left in my account for me to be able to use.
Now I see that I have been essentially fined because Nedbank system does not work well to decline when there is not enough funds in an account to process a transaction by a fee call "HonFee" As someone who works in a finance department at a bank, I know that there is no way I should be liable for this sort of system error because as soon as I swipe even for R5 that money should be debited from my account and put in a clearing account awaiting the merchant's bank to bank those transactions.
Now I'm being charged over R400 for a Nedbank system failing, if these aren't reversed I'm leaving Nedbank ASAP
