disappointed

I walked into Flora Centre Nedbank to make a R18760.0 cash deposit, I dealt with a teller by the name of Primrose Mahlangu. As per normal deposit procedure, filled in the deposit slip and handed to her with the money, after a few moments waiting for her to give me the deposit receipt as proof for my deposit, she then informed me that there is a technical glitch on her side (machine jam) and that the money already taken by the machine and the remainder of the money still to be taken by the machine does not balance it is short by a R1000.0,

I was then informed by Primrose that i can leave the branch since i was there for a long time and that she will try to resolve the issue her self regarding the balance matter, meaning she will call/telephone me to tell me that yes the money does not balance that i will have to bring in the difference in cash so that my initial deposit reflects the R18760.0.Primrose insisted that my money was short by a thousand despite the fact that i gave her the full correct amount stated on the deposit slip i filled in.

I could not just leave the branch until this was resolved but for her it was just a joke, a simple laughing matter as she kept giggling as i stood there in frustration. i could not just believe the kind of service that i was experiencing that i will have to bring in an additional thousand rand before she even double checked and before she even confirmed with a supervisor that indeed the amount is short.

After waiting for over 30mins, that’s when she now called in a colleague who also confirmed that the amount is short of a thousand, they now both insisted that I leave the branch and will get resolution to this issue telephonically, still I insisted that I won’t leave the branch until this is resolved, that’s when Primrose called in a superior to assist. The superior recalculated the total money including the deposit taken by the so called jammed machine before my transaction.

Eventually the superior resolved my issue and confirmed that the total money reflecting on the deposit slip corresponds with the money I handed in. The superior gave me a "PEN" to apologise for the inconvenience. Well this was a good gesture however the way Primrose handled the matter was disappointing, disrespectful, unprofessional and very frustrating as a thousand rand is a lot of money to be mishandled like that.

I have lost total confidence in NEDBANK, I feel that I need to change banks before the worst can happen.
