did not close my account and now i owe money

On 11 june i paid the outstanding amount on amex card at nedbank midlands mall. I was notified it was in arears by R260. First of all simce i had my account, i never recieved any statements, hence why i decided to close the accoutn due to lack of service. Now i found that the account was still active. Please can anyone help me on how to get my recordings from bedbank in order to take this to ombidsman
