Declined invalid

So I sit in the Tokai branch almost the whole of my Saturday morning, applying for a personal loan. I eventually see a consultant. She declines me based on a "judgement" on my credit card that I have closed in 2015. She advises that I have to get a paid up letter from the same bank and she will motivate.

A week later I come back into the same bank with my paid up letter only to hear that the decline is valid for 30 days and it has nothing to do with the credit card. My credit rating is very good and I am financially okay to receive finance they will get back to me. It is now Wednesday and no one has contacted me back.

My wedding is coming down and I would not be applying for a loan if I did not need my banks assistance. What is the point of having a bank that cannot recruit competent staff to deal with your money?
