Deceased Estate Policy Rules

My mother, whom had a home loan with Nedbank, paid off the bond in 2007 and passed on in 2012. As the sole heir, I was able to transfer all her assets to my name except for the property previously financed with Nedbank. The Deeds office expressed to my Estate Attorneys that they have never previously received a "Paid up Letter" or "Bond Cancellation" letter from any party and so the attempt to transfer the property was rejected.

Both my attorneys and I contacted Nedbank. My 1st 14 attempts(with and average holding time of 5 minutes) was a back and forth between the Cancellation department and Deceased Estates as both departments were pointing to the other in terms of resolving this matter for me.

I then went to the Rosebank branch and the same thing happened until one lady advised that because my mother passed on after the bond was cancelled, there is nothing they can do for me now despite the fact that I have the letter of exutorship, death certificate and all the necessary documents.

Basicaly, Nedbank's refusal to issue that letter leaves me stuck with a R350k land that I can't claim, sell or do anything about. My mother was a good client who never missed a single payment now her estate will lose R350k because Nedbank refuses to type a letter to confirm that the bond was paid up.
