Deceased estate

I am beyond frustrated with the service received from Nedbank regarding my late father’s bond and deceased estate matter.

To make things clear — I have NOT been assisted by Nedbank’s bereaved/deceased department because getting hold of anyone there seems nearly impossible. The contact numbers simply transfer you from one department to another, leaving you on hold more than actually speaking to someone who can assist.

Instead, I have been dealing with Gugulethu from Nedbank as well as Magda from Nedbank’s collections department, and the entire process has been exhausting, tedious and filled with endless back and forth communication that leads nowhere. There has been a shocking lack of empathy, emotional intelligence and professionalism throughout this entire ordeal.

My father passed away a year ago, yet only now are we suddenly being pressured and contacted. I have repeatedly explained that the estate is STILL not finalised, but instead of guidance or understanding, we are met with pressure, demands and even being told to sell the house. How do you say something like that to a grieving family?

What makes this even worse is the tone used when speaking to us. Families dealing with loss should not be made to feel like burdens or ********s while trying to navigate complicated estate matters. There has been little to no compassion shown throughout this process.

Communication is poor, follow-ups are nonexistent and when Gugulethu went on leave, there was no proper handover or continuation of assistance. We were simply left in limbo. The entire experience has added unnecessary stress and trauma onto an already painful situation for my mother and our family.

Some of us genuinely want to cooperate, communicate and pay what needs to be paid, but we also deserve to be treated with basic decency, humanity and respect.

Nedbank seriously needs to reassess how they handle bereavement and deceased estate matters because the lack of compassion, accountability and proper service is absolutely unacceptable.
