Cruel and Heartless
I would like to register my disappoint at Nedbank for what I have experienced over the past few days.
I’m currently self-employed and have been since 2020. In March 2020 my business suffered like other businesses due to the COVID 19 pandemic.
Upon seeing the problem, I contacted my home loan provider and Nedbank to request a payment holiday to allow things to stabilise.
They both agreed to a payment holiday for March, April , June. I pay on the 10th of following month always.
I paid Nedbank’s June instalment on the 2nd June 2020 R5,700. they never said that i was in arrears.
On the 6th August 2020 I transferred another R5,700 into my Nedbank personal loan. On the same day Nedbank forced debited me R5,608. I called them to explain that I already paid this instalment, can they refund this money so I can pay my bond which falls due on the 10th of every month. The following day they forced debited me a another R4,890. Just this morning they sent an sms of a notification of authority to debit and then they forced debited another R3,000.
So I called again to follow-up on the previous refund request and to also request another refund. Now they say I’m in arrears. This is the first time I hear of this. I tell them I can’t be in arrears because I requested a payment holiday and it was granted. They tell me I had to submit documents when the holiday was requested. The person I spoke to months ago to request the holiday didn’t tell me this. Secondly i'm being told this because I want a refund that I’m in arrears.
This is extremely unfair because I cannot pay for my house and it seems Nedbank is taking advantage of a struggling business person knowing fully well the challenge we all facing due to the COVID 19 pandemic. At the sametime Nedbank is advertising like all the other Banks that it has given relief to business people. In my case it is not true.
