CREDIT CARD

Hi all, I have a cheque and credit card with Nedbank. I recently wanted to utilize for the first time, went to the branch for more info on the repayment. Only to be advised that the credit card has been closed, I was advised to call the credit card department and only to be told that it was closed due to Non use. I was further advised that Nedbank had sent me a text requesting me to use my credit card, to which I did not respond to as the text could have came from anyone due to the ***** high rate. I asked the consultant if Nedbank was pressuring me to use my credit cards for nonsensical shopping spree and dining? As that is not how I utilize my credit cards it is only on emergencies and pressing circumstances. Here’s what I have gathered: 1. Nedbank has a trailing/tracking system which monitors your credit card usage. 2. Should it not be utilized for a number of years, Nedbank will resume sending you text encouraging you to go shopping and swipe your credit card you will earn double points. 3. By now if you have not responded to Nedbank’s plea to lure you into en-debting yourself. 4. Your credit card will be closed without any sms, as per the lure sms or calls. 5. Nedbank will then allocate the credit card limit which was at one time yours to another individual who also has to fall for the pressure from Nedbank in utilizing the credit card, if not the cycle continues until Nedbank finds an individual who will succumb to their spending/swiping your credit card pressure. In closing I have my credit card with Standard bank for almost 10 years, never in the above mentioned years has standard bank harassed me with text encouraging me to spend or threaten to close my credit card due to non use. The amount still reflects on my credit card, and is not closed due to non use. Nedbank should have communicated all their hidden intensions upfront prior to the bank issuing me with the credit cards, this is a total ambush that each and every one should be aware of. As far as I know no bank has the right to pressure individuals into spending, let alone on an amount that is the banks and is to be paid with interest. This Nedbank matter has to be investigated by the credit consumer. Nedbank consultant that I spoke **************** (who received an instruction from an authority to close the credit card without sms or call)
