closing an account

I have a transaction (savings) account at Nedbank that I have not been using. (I also have a current a/c and a gold credit card.) I am, however, being debited with R16 per month by the bank for fees. My account therefore ends up in "overdraft". I have had numerous phone calls about this. The first one said that at that time I owed R18.32. I needed to go into the bank to close the account. I told her this was difficult as I was disabled and there was no parking at the bank, plus one had to stand in line for half an hour (the chairs being too low). She said she would get someone to phone me and sort out closure over the phone. I duly paid the R18.32 but no-one phoned me. Another one phoned and then transferred me to another dept who dealt with such things and then said she would sort it out by informing another dept to close it. Nothing happened. Today I was phoned again and told my a/c was overdrawn and what did I want to do about it. This has happened over the course of about 2 months and I have been charged another R16. I am overawed at the inefficiency. It is such a small account - can't it be handled in an efficient way?

Thanks for sorting it out so quickly - just a pity I had to endure incompetence for two months first!
