Closing a deceased person's account - NIGHTMARE
We are executors and this is not the first time I close accounts on behalf of a deceased client, in fact it's not even the first time at this particular branch. The last time it took me about 5 trips to get it closed and it still got transferred to one of their mysterious holding accounts even though they received the estate banking details on 4 separate occasions.
This time I went their with all needed documents including a copy of the new ID card of the deceased so I was told it has to be stamped deceased, this is impossible I rep****, then it must be punched by Home Affairs as proof that the person is deceased, I rep**** I have a death certificate from Home affairs as proof of that. No, thats their process and that's the end of it, so I asked her can I have a copy of this so called process, oh I dont know where I put it now she said, this is the manager btw.
I hope everyone closes their accounts with Nedbank, although that seems impossible, and that the go bankrupt. It seems the people dreaming up these processes have never wound up an estate in their life and have no clue about the documentation they require.
