Close my account next day ask me deposit money...

Yesterday I went to close my Nedbank account which I haven't used for a while. I first asked them why the ATM took my card the other day which she did not give me a reason. I then stated that since I'm finally here I would like to close this account since I moved to FNB as my new bank a year ago. I signed the paper work and was told the account is closed. Today suddenly they phone me to tell me I need to deposit funds into the account since the service fee went off yesterday on the day I closed the account. Now they tell me the account is still open awaiting for a deposit from me before they will close the account.
