Claim Rejected C***

We have been residing at our current address since November 2013. Since then we have had a couple of claims for a leaking roof.

Round about June 2014 was the first incident and the entire ceiling had to be replaced due to water damage. Upon opening up the ceiling it was then only discovered that the rafters and trusses weren't suitably constructed. I was told then that Insurance will not cover defective roof. The Nedbank appointed assessors, ProLoss, Raizenbergs and ACM Construction deemed this to be poor workmanship and labelled it a defective roof. No further repairs can be done to ceilings until the roof is adequately repaired.

Nedbank Insurance is now insisting that we, the owners of the property, have the roof repaired at our own expense. I disagree with this as this was clearly a defect unknown to us when purchasing the house. Surely Nedbank should be liable for the repairs to the roof? Nedbank approved our bond on the premise that there are no defects to the roofing structure, no? Nedbank should be in possession of a roofing certificate, no?

I wish for this matter to be addressed with urgency please as your complaints department have a turnaround period of 20 business days. I cannot wait that long for this urgent matter to be addressed.
