Cheque Clearing Negligence

I have still not received a response a written response to my letter sent Fri 03/06/2016 (Case Number: ********** ).

I had to follow up myself on Mon 13/06/2016 via email and call you. As per our telephonic conversation on the 13/06/2016 you said you would provide me with a written response and am still waiting. I am not satisfied with the branch manager’s explanation. I feel your specialised dispute resolution unit within Nedbank are not addressing my complaint with the utmost priority as mandated.

Please provide a response on my below queries:

1. Please provide Nedbank’s cheque clearing policy or holding policy in writing. I believe the bank should have followed and had the correct preventative measures to verify the validity before clearing. Once the deposit was made the funds reflected online but were not available immediately. After numerous attempts from the 28/04/2016 to transfer the funds to my current account the bank cleared this only after 13 days, thus I believed the deposit was honoured. Why was a cheque hold not issued to protect me in the case of insufficient funds in the cheque-writers account? The first deposit made on the 22/04/2016 never cleared and the withdrawal went suspense, why was the not the case with the subsequent deposits?

2. I find it an unsatisfactory response that Nedbank “tried” to call me as I have checked my call logs and there is nothing. Furthermore Nedbank cannot produce a call log and the employee who was meant to call does not work at the branch anymore. That is simply not good enough and I find it unacceptable that you could not reach me once in 21 days. My credit record has now been effected and you advised I have to sort this out myself with the NCR although I believe it is due to the banks negligence. This is dismal client service right from the start through to me having to follow up on my complaint. I have also addressed this with the banking Ombudsman.
