Cheque account not closed.
Good day,
I just received an unpleasant call from your consulting saying I owe Nedbank money from an old debit account I had at Nedbank.
I called Nedbank on 30 March 2016 between 08:00 and 10:00. I remeber the date as I had resigned on that day from my previous employer. I called to close the account but never received a closure letter.
How can Nedbank now call me two years later to inform me the account is overdrawn? I never received an e-mail, sms, phone call or letter in the post.
Why would the Bank now contact me two years later? That day was the last day I transacted with the account. How did I end up with an overdrawn account? I did not even have an overdraft on the account.
Please do contact me about this.
If I had an overdraft, I would understand that I should pay. But I never had an overdraft at all.
So even if there were transactions on the account, I can understand if it was not closed properly.
I also asked the consultant if they can check the phone records, but she said she cannot do so. Is the bank not suppose to have a record of interactions with clients. Now the consultant was demanding me to provide proof of account closure.
Please do advise me what I should do.
Thank you.
