Charging me for third party mistake.

Recently, I went to purchase at Guess store in Access park Kenilworth. My purchase was for R699 and I swear I had enough money for the purchase. The transaction date was on the 31 May 2016 and the transaction went through and I proceeded with my shopping. After transferring all my money to my investment account it came to my attention that my Nedbank balance is -R608 and as I was surprised I had to went through my mini statement, and it reflected that its a purchase at Guess processed on 01 June 2016. On the 3rd of June Nedbank went on to charge me additional R90. I called them but they say we had to honor the transaction since the Merchant did not deduct same day.

My question is why did the merchant didn't deduct same day?

Who's fault is that?

Why charge me for their mistake?

I honestly don't have a problem with paying R699 but its quite unfair to be charged additional 90 rands for either merchant or Nedbank's mistake.

Imagine going to a restaurant to eat with an impression that I have enough funds and realise after eating that actually purchase done 5 days ago was only processed 5 minutes before I pay my bill and now my balance on account is -R90
