Cancellation Fees
To cancel a ceded share certificate, I have to pay an attorney that the bank has given me, which the bank only has an estimated cost of anything from R1500-R2000. I still have to write a letter to the bank, which the bank then hands to the attorney and the attorney will then instruct the bank to cancel the cessation. I cannot engage my own attorney, I have to use any 1 of 3 attorneys that deal with this and these are well renowned attorneys that don't come cheap. I was informed this is the bank's policy. I don't understand why the letter I have to write to the bank cannot be used as a legal document. This to me is a ripoff.
