Bond application drama
Not the type of person that wants to spend his time writing a negative review, but sharing my experience I had with Nedbank might help those in search of a home loan provider. Firstly I am with Nedbank for over 22 years as well as a private client. I am a healthcare professional with his own practice. I have my business running through them for the last 7 years. I app**** for a bond with Nedbank for my first property investment. They pre-approved me for an amount that was much higher than the value of property I was interested in. I also had a deposit almost to the value of the small property but needed the flexi bond to keep money liquid. After doing the offer to purchase, Nedbank then asked for payslips which I do not have as I work for myself. They were aware of this from the start. I did have other means showing proof of income which Nedbank was OK with initially. I would then not hear from anyone for days or a week at a time and I would have to follow up continuously. After every follow up I would be told that they require something else. Not sure why they could not tell me what they needed from the start or asked for relevant documentation during the pre-approval process. The process took so long that my offer to purchase nearly fell through. At the last minute they decided to give me a 90% bond. This left me an enormous amount of money to source with attorney’s fees pay as well. Without exaggerating, the experience has been traumatic and this is still the watered down version. I don’t understand the point of their pre-approval system as it meant very little at the end of the day. As a business owner I would recommend using another bank for loan purposes. Nedbank has made it clear that I and my business is not important to them. They were only willing to do the bare minimum at best despite my pleading.
