Bad Service from Nedbank Market Street Branch by Boitumelo

On the 26th Oct, I went to open an account at Nedbank Market Street Branch and I was assisted by Boitumelo. Upon sitting by her desk, i was impressed by the merit certificate of award that was by her wall. That was a confirmation of the best service i was about to receive. However, that was outlived and proven to be the opposite.

I told her what I was coming for. Upon taking my ID and Residence Proof, she asked me if my details have changed which I said no (thinking she is only referring to the info on documents). From there, there was a moment of silence, only the sound of a keyboard. Somewhere during the capturing, she asked if I am working in the sales industry and how is it. Which I just smiled and said its ok. Her phone rang and she answered. Most of her conversation on the phone was about how she wants to take her 3 hours lunch that she is owed and how she wants to go shop in preparation of the wedding to come.

Not long, I had to sign, sign and sign even more. I asked about the cellphone app but she didnt explain, except that since we activated internet, its also active (which by the way was incorrect). She then advised me to pay R50 to activate an account. Few days later, when i attempted to activate the app, I realized I cant as the cellphone was different from the one I am using. I went back to the branch after a week or so to get my cellphone number registered. The lady who assisted me this time picked it up that my account is fairly new. She then asked Boitumelo why she didnt confirm the client's numbers. Boitumelo, in front of me, rep**** without shame; "Gab told me not to register them" and then she left without even looking at me, let alone caring (no longer sure of the name Gab).

Every financial institution can offer a product in the exact way the other is offering it. The only differentiation among institution is how they deliver their products....service. Consumers careless of how much they spend, as long as they are treated with worthy. Time is of essence. I received money once in that account and its enough.

To answer her question...Sales industry is the same as any other job. You determine its easiness and difficulty. In your case, you are guaranteed to have it difficult.

By the way...I have moved around banks as a Branch Manager for the past 5 years and one thing that i always champion is service because clients will never forget how you made them feel. What I saw in you is the complete lack of love for what you doing. Before you address that, it will be difficult to get it right consistently.

Hope the wedding was supper.

Regards
