Bad banking experience with Nedbank
I've been a client with Nedbank for a year now and have been met with horrible service, empty promises, being charged for services I have not received to date.
This started with a copy of a bank statement I needed and went to a Nedbank branch, no one at the branch said their self service machine is out of paper or even bothered to put up a sign. I attempted 3 times to get a copy and never got one. However I was later charged R60 for those unfruitful attempts. I reached out to their contact centre and the agent was less than interested to help and just told me to go back to the branch and there was nothing they can do for me. Bottom line I was ****med and decided to let it go since I don't have the time to go back to the branch.
I was called by their retention squad after insisting on banking somewhere else and was told I could upgrade my account since I'm grossly overcharged on my existing account. I was told to wait for an email to switch, this was over 6 months ago and no email and my account remains the same. I followed up and this time was told I have to wait a year before I can switch accounts which sounds ridiculous, these are things I wish I knew before going in because I would never have bothered to bank with Nedbank.
The final straw is recently on the 25th October I topped up my airtime and data using their money app, did not get my airtime or data on my phone but of course true to form they were quick to deduct my money. I contacted their hopeless chat centre and spoke to Shivani who told me she will escalate the matter and told me to wait 5 working days. I waited for the 5 working days and nothing. I reached out again on the 4th November and spoke to Phumudzo who told me escalations take 5-10 working days, a detail that was not initially communicated. I waited again and reached out again after the 10th date since my issue was not resolved and had gotten a missed call from them. The first agent was Thobani who didn't even bother to write back on the chat, which I have screenshots of. I left the chat and started another and spoke to Thabiso who was of no help either, clearly had no idea what he was doing and ended the chat on me and claimed I was unresponsive after asking me to wait for him while he checked on his system for me.
I was called 2 weeks ago and was told that they will do something, can't say I cared to pay attention because I've lost all hope in Nedbank customer service and guess what my issue persists.
This is for anyone thinking of switching to Nedbank, consider my situation as a possibility and be sure before switching.
