Avoid Nedbank Motor Insurance at all cost
***
An exceptionally poor and deeply frustrating customer-service experience.
My experience with this company has been unacceptable from beginning and I'm still waiting for feedback. More than 15 calls and repeatedly waited around 30 minutes on hold, only for the call to disconnect. When I called back, I was passed between different consultants and forced to explain the same matter repeatedly, despite providing my reference number. This reflects a serious failure in record-keeping, internal coordination, and basic customer care.
Rather than taking ownership and resolving the issue, representatives repeatedly referred me from one department to another. Emails were ignored or answered only after persistent follow-ups and escalation. I was left with the impression that the matter would not receive attention unless I continued applying pressure.
The proposed turnaround time of 30 business days was completely unreasonable in the circumstances. No convincing explanation was provided for why a relatively straightforward matter required such an extended period, particularly after previous delays and administrative errors. There was no urgency, no proactive communication, and no evidence that anyone was taking responsibility for progressing the matter.
My interactions with Miss Ntokozo Ndlovu were especially disappointing. The responses I received appeared generic, formulaic, and disconnected from the actual issues I had raised. They came across as checklist-driven rather than based on any proper consideration of the facts. Instead of engaging with my concerns meaningfully, the responses simply repeated procedural language and attempted to close down further communication.
The entire process demonstrated a disturbing lack of empathy, judgment, accountability, and common sense. Customers experiencing financial stress should not have to fight this hard for basic information, a proper response, or reasonable progress on a matter that directly affects them.
The company’s departments appear fragmented and poorly integrated. There is no clear ownership, no continuity between consultants, and no coherent customer journey. Every interaction created another obstacle instead of moving the matter toward resolution. The result was an exhausting cycle of waiting, repeating information, chasing responses, and escalating complaints.
As someone with 10 years of experience in the insurance industry, I can say that this is among the worst service experiences I have encountered. The handling of this matter falls far below any reasonable standard expected from a professional short-term insurer. It has damaged my confidence in the company and raised serious concerns about how customers are treated when they urgently need assistance.
Prospective customers should think very carefully before trusting this company with their insurance needs. Existing policyholders should review their options and consider whether they are prepared to endure this level of disorganisation, indifference, and administrative failure when making a claim.
This was not a minor inconvenience or an isolated bad interaction. It was a sustained failure across multiple calls, emails, consultants, and departments. The experience was inefficient, dismissive, stressful, and profoundly disappointing. Based on my experience, the company’s poor Google rating is entirely understandable.
