Avoid Nedbank estates division
After two nightmare years I finally completed a simple deceased estate recently. The deceased and her executors banked at Nedbank, otherwise I wouldn't have touched Nedbank - I've experienced their dreadful service for deceased estates before. The service was slow, obstructive, uninterested and as unprofessional as it could be, The last straw was when we finally closed the deceased's bank account and transferred the balance to the estate account. That very night R100 000 was drawn from the account (inside job for sure?). It took nearly 6 months for them to refund us and then only because we squealed regularly. But here's the best part: when we demanded interest for this period they refused. Their reason? We were going to close the account anyway! What about the interest we could have earned by investing the R100 000? Tough luck, no dice. So folks, avoid Nedbank like the plague, especially when you are winding up deceased estates
