ATM fault causes loss and stress
On Friday 20 February 2015, I deposited a large amount of cash into an ATM at Nedbank Beacon Bay. From the initial deposit a small amount was returned due to the notes not being accepted. It then displayed the amount deposited on the screen and then came up with a fault, returned a small portion of the deposit. Although the branch was closed I was able to explain my problem to one of the staff , through a locked door.

I returned to the branch on Saturday and was told that the problem had been logged and I could expect the money in my bank by Tuesday 24 February. On Monday I received a call asking if I had a reference number which I gave them. I returned to the bank on Wednesday 25 February and was told that they had sent another email. I have subsequently been told that they are waiting for the ATM to be reconciled. On Friday it will have been 2 weeks and I am unable to pay my bills. If I was overdrawn at this bank, I would be charged a fortune in fees, but they seem to be able to hold customer's money indefinately.
