ATM Cash Deposit

On Friday, 26th January at around 9:22 am I deposit money at one of the ATMs outside the Nedbank Louis Trichardt branch. Upon completion of this transaction, I got a receipt that stated that I should allow for 2 business days my account balance to be updated. I did not pay attention to this initially because when I deposit money the money reflects in my account immediately. Over the weekend I paid no attention this.

On Monday, 29th January the funds had still not reflected in my bank account and it when I started getting worried.

I then went to the Nedbank at Benmore Gardens in Sandton and reported this. I was assisted by Veronica (Enquiries) and she said that I should have the money in my account on Tuesday, 6th of February at the end of the business day. On Friday, 2nd February I called the Nedbank call centre to find out if everything was still on track, Sizwe assisted me and he basically repeated what Veronica had said, that is the money would be in my account at the end of the business day on Tuesday, 6th February. I lodged a second dispute on Monday, 5th February at Nedbank Meyersdal with Tanya (enquiries) and she also couldn't tell me when I am going to get my money back

On Monday, 5th February, I receive a call from Veronica and she informs me that they unable to trace my funds and that my matter needs to be escalated to a different department. I ask her how long will it take until I get my money back and she says she does not know.

I don't understand why it is taking so long because I have provided them with the deposit slip and they have checked my statement which serves as proof that the money never reached my account.

This money was intended for my registration of studies, I have had to take a loan in order to make the registration deadline and to avoid debit orders from bouncing.

I am really disgruntled by the bad service and the lack of urgency.

My next step is to lodge a complaint with the Ombudsman
