Assistance with settlong a loan

I phoned Nedbank earlier requesting them to consider giving me a discount to the settlement amount quoted by their system. The request was turned down and I find this in bad faith because that account is already behind and I have paid back the capital amount borrowed already. I really want to settle instead of either defaulting or going the debt review route. I do not have the R15K plus they are quoting but can put together a reasonable amount to settle.
