Appeal: Nedbank Credit Card Application unreasonably declined
I app**** for Nedbank Credit Card online on 1 May and was provisionally approved on 5 May. On this day, I called the credit card department to follow up on a call I had missed from them that morning. The consultant, speculating, said they were calling to authenticate the application. He also said there was a message saying the documents weren't clear. Later that day, I received a message requesting me to send the documents. I sent them again.
I received a message the following say saying my application was approved with a credit limit of R60 000. Documents were requested of me from the same message. I sent them again. I received the same message again on the 7th, 8th and 11th requesting me of the same documents and I sent them each time I received the message. I called on the 8th asking why I was receiving the same message over and over again. I was told to ignore it after having confirmed the email to which I sent the documents. So I did!
I called on the 12th after receiving a message that stated that "[the] application has been declined due to incorrect or inauthentic details provided." After quickly going through my application, the consultant said it was declined because they couldn't find me on the phone after calling me numerous times from different numbers."What different numbers!" I wondered since I had given them only one number. The consultant logged an urgent query asking them to call me soon. Two days later, still no call from them.
In the afternoon of the 14th of May, I called and explained everything. The consultant said the application was declined and closed. When I asked about the query logged on the 12th, she said there was nothing like that. She offered to help me appeal the outcome instead. When I asked her what other contact numbers were on my application, she refused to tell me. All this time she was saying I could still take a loan or wait for 30 days. I emphatically refused an insisted that a follow-up be made on the supposedly closed application. After putting me on hold for some time, and having found out that I had app**** online, she hung up.
I suspect that there could be some internal ********** activity going on here because I never gave them any other contact number except the only one number that they are sending me SMSs on. I've been a victim of ***** before and don't want to be again as it costed me a lot the last time. I just want Nedbank to reconsider the application without me having to wait for 30 days and start another one altogether as each credit application negatively affects my credit score. If Nedbank can't help me, I'll have no other option but to take it up with the law. Please resolve this issue as soon as possible.
