Appalling “Elite” bank.

Unfortunately after almost 10 years of banking with this ‘Prestigious’ bank, when the crunch time came with an incident happening compromising their security for I as a client, they fell by the wayside.

16th of June 2023 a *****ulent incident took place after my mobile device was ****** to which all things pertaining to the device were facial recognition enabled/linked alongside passwords to respective platforms including the Nedbank money app.

In some way, the perpetrators were able to tap into the Nedbank money app and help themselves with funds from money pockets to the main chequeing account.

I contacted Nedbank to let them know of this mishap as I purchased a new device and recovered my things respectively and learnt of this happening on their APP.

I called the forensics department to report this and I was given this REF NUMBER 671 470 84 on the 16th of June 2023, for the investigation to be underway and everything was blocked and limited by way of transactions on the app.

I waited over a month and a half, meaning end of July 2023. No phone call. No email. No in-app message of outcomes from the investigations. I then called in early August 2023, I was given the investigators details who goes by the name of Debbie Masango who is handling this for me. She has since been uncontactable on her office line of *** against a new, updated reference number I was given of GFCFS45657 and told she would contact me in 48 hours.

We are in September 2023. No phone call. No email. Numerous attempts to contact Debbie Masango and her superior, Vicky on this landline ***. None has come through or even made any attempt.

In essence, the bank regardless of the cases they have distributed amongst the investigators has seen through my case and performed due diligence as a protective measure for I as a banking client.

This week on the 11th of September 2023, in JHB, I made an appointment through the APP to close ALL account held in my name at NEDBANK at the Killarney Branch and withdrew the little pennies to a rand that were in my accounts.

Nedbank does not live up to its name. Funny enough, all other banks, though our experiences may differ as clients, had no security breach as Nedbank did.

I know there is insurance in place for such. There are cameras at ATMs especially to assist when investigations are underway to determine the actual events that took place against that which a client has related to the bank.

I’ve been sent from pillar to post. Calling and calling, which has been costly and rather futile. Debbie Masango, whether in Durban or Johannesburg, with her manger, Vicky, I deem unprofessional and untoward.

Naturally, I’m now approaching the BANKING OMBUDSMAN to see what expertise they can employ to see this matter through with this GREEN APPALLING BANK, which has not taken care of my banking investigative needs.
