Absolutely Livid-taking my business elsewhere.

I am absolutely livid.

Two days ago my card worked perfectly, no problem swiping or withdrawing from an ATM.

Yesterday it declined and gave me the reason that the bank had declined my transaction.

I went to Nedbank Castle Walk, and was helped by a lovely lady that eventually figured out that my account had been blocked due to fica registration.

This was the first time I had heard anything about needing to submit fica registration, I recieved no calls, sms's, emails, or notifications on the ATM on the matter prior to my account being blocked.

I had to take off work to sort this problem out, gathering proof of residence ect and submitting it at the same branch, same day hoping to resolve the matter quickly.

The same woman helped me, and she informed me that I would only be able to access my funds again by Wednesday once the fica had been verified.

Please tell me, how on earth you can lock someone out of their own funds, for nearly an entire week when the issue was caused by the bank failing to notify me!

(Nedbank has my email address, aswell as my cell number, they could have easily contacted me)

My sister is with Absa and her ATM told her for 2 weeks (during which time she had access to her funds) that she was required to submit fica registration and when she did submit, it was immediately verified and approved.

So why does Nedbank take a week, leaving me with no funds?

This morning I called Nedbank and after being on hold numerous times and transfered to various departments before someone could assist me.

I was given a pififul, 'sorry for the inconvinence, there's nothing we can do'.

(On a side note, the staff that helped me both at Castle Walk aswell as on the call center were very kind and helpful, Im blown away at how a bank can have such great staff and still be entirely useless.)

This entire matter is unacceptable and I will most definitely be taking my business elsewhere after this experience.

Thanks to the help from Mr Nicholas in the complaint department, aswell as the help from the Castle Walk branch manager of Nedbank, the issue was resolved today.

Its sad that this issue occured to start with, and sad that I had to throw a tantrum on social media to get this resolved.

But I do appreciate the swift and kind manner it was handled in once the problem caught the attention of those capable of fixing it.

I appreciate the lengths these gentlemen went to to help me out, especially on a Friday afternoon when many would have ignored it till Monday

I understand that errors do occur and as a result of one, I was not notified of the fica registration needing to be done.

I will give Nedbank the benefit of believing that such an error will not occur in future, and rest assured knowing that if one does, at least the great staff will be able to help me solve it quickly.

Nedbank may have its issues, but they have some great staff and thanks to these staff members I will keep banking with them for the foreseeable future.

Thanks for the help guys!
