Based on recent customer reviews, National Debt Association is overwhelmingly criticised for outbound telephone sales that consumers say misrepresented debt review as interest reduction or consolidation, sometimes implying a link to the National Credit Regulator. Complaints centre on credit reports pulled and debit orders loaded without informed consent, deductions of several thousand rand, and staff becoming unreachable when Form 17.2 cancellation letters are requested. Repeat calls are described as harassment. A small minority report positive outcomes, with agents helping them settle accounts and obtain clearance certificates.

REPORT TO THIS COMPANY TO THE NCR!
One of the worst companies on the planet. Hell on earth, demons in human skin. They will tell you they will consolidate your debt & reduce your interest rate, but leave out the fact that you will be in debt review, and that the first 2 instalments go to them, not your creditors! Lies, deception, your life ruined just so a pathetic call centre agent reaches their target. I lost R4600 of my hard-earned, honestly earned money to *******. Wendy, Tumi, Nabeelah, and the rest of those associated with the NDA must be stopped. Report them to the NCR for ********* business practices and SAVE YOURSELF!

Harrassed by national debt councillors
I keep getting calls from various national debt regulatory companies daily 2 to 3 times from numbers like these ... *** or *** ... I have asked everyone to remove my number from their databases to no avail ... When asked for their supervisors they point blank say NO then put tge fone down ... How do i remove my number from their databases??? How do i contact their firm directors??? The irritation goes beyond an occasional call and has overstepped into stalking harrasment and pure blatant disregard for the popi act and other legal issues ... Its gotten out of hand... Who do they think they are????

Extremely disappointed and concerned
I am extremely unhappy with the way this company has handled my debt review. I had approximately R15,000 in debt, yet I was placed under debt review and was told that the company would assist with reducing the interest and arranging payments with my creditors. I was charged/deducted approximately R6,000, but I have not received a clear explanation of where this money went or proof that it was paid to my creditors. My understanding is that this amount was retained by the company as their fee. I have repeatedly tried to contact the company by telephone and WhatsApp, but they are not answering my calls or responding to my messages. I need a proper explanation of: 1. Why I was placed under debt review. 2. What agreement or consent was used to place me under debt review. 3. Exactly what the R6,000 was charged for. 4. Where my money was paid and how much was actually paid to each creditor. 5. What the current status of my debt review is. 6. What steps will be taken to resolve this matter and, if applicable, refund money that was improperly charged or retained. I am requesting that the company contact me urgently and provide written proof and a full statement of account. I do not believe it is acceptable to take a substantial amount of money from a consumer and then become unreachable when the consumer asks for an explanation. If this matter is not resolved, I will consider escalating the complaint to the National Credit Regulator and other relevant authorities. I would like a written response addressing each of the points above

****MERS BEWARE!
This company phones you with promises of reduced interest rates, not declaring that they are actually placing you under debt review. There is no clear way of contacting them, it is absolutely a ****. We had to go to the bank to cancel their debit order, and am still struggling to reach out to them.

Complaint Against National Debt Association (Pty) Ltd – Misrepresentation, Unauthorised Debt Review Application and Failure to Assist
<div>Complaint Against National Debt Association (Pty) Ltd – Misrepresentation, Unauthorised Debt Review Application and Failure to Assist I wish to lodge a formal complaint against National Debt Association (Pty) Ltd regarding their *********, misleading and unprofessional conduct in relation to a debt review application that has caused me significant financial prejudice. On or about 21 July 2026, I received a telephone call from representatives of National Debt Association who created the impression that they were acting on behalf of, or in association with, the National Credit Regulator (NCR). During the call, I was informed that I had been identified because I was maintaining my debt repayments well and that they could assist me. Based on the information presented to me, I was misled into believing that they were providing an official service linked to the NCR. Without properly assessing my financial circumstances and relying only on information obtained from my credit profile/ClearScore, they proceeded to initiate a debt review process with my credit providers, including Standard Bank. This was done despite not obtaining sufficient financial information from me to determine whether I was, in fact, over-indebted as required by the National Credit Act. As a direct result of their actions, my banking facilities have been negatively affected, causing me unnecessary financial inconvenience and prejudice. When I decided to cancel the process and requested the necessary Form 17.2 cancellation documentation, as required by Standard Bank, I discovered that the company is effectively unreachable. Despite numerous attempts to contact them on their published telephone number, ***, I have received no assistance whatsoever. It is unacceptable that a company can readily contact banks to place consumers under debt review, yet becomes unavailable when consumers seek assistance to cancel a process that was initiated through misleading representations and insufficient assessment. I have supporting evidence, including: * The documentation sent to me by National Debt Association. * WhatsApp communications between myself and the company. * Any other relevant correspondence supporting my complaint. I respectfully request that this matter be investigated as a matter of urgency. I further request that the company be compelled to: 1. Immediately cooperate in cancelling the debt review process. 2. Issue all documentation required to facilitate the cancellation, including the relevant Form 17.2 where applicable. 3. Correct any information submitted to my credit providers and credit bureaus. 4. Be investigated for possible misleading marketing practices, misrepresentation, and failure to comply with the requirements of the National Credit Act. Consumers should be able to trust that debt counselling services are conducted lawfully, transparently and in good faith. In my experience, National Debt Association has failed to meet these standards, and I hope my complaint will help prevent other consumers from experiencing similar prejudice. I request urgent intervention and feedback regarding the outcome of this complaint.</div>

Formal Demand for Immediate Cancellation of Debt Review Application Due to Misrepresentation
Good day, National Debt Association (Pty) Ltd Registration Number: *** I hereby formally request the immediate cancellation and withdrawal of any debt review application, debt counselling process, debit order mandate, or related service that may have been initiated in my name. On 21 July 2026 , today, at approximately 12:04, I received a telephone call from ***, which I was led to believe was associated with the National Credit Regulator (NCR). During the call, the representative informed me that the NCR had identified me as a person whose debts or interest rates should be reduced because the banks were allegedly overcharging me on interest. The representative further indicated that I was being assisted with reducing my interest rates and requested my personal information and supporting documentation, including my payslip, identity document, and account statements. I was also requested to approve a debit order mandate, which I did. However, after conducting my own research following the call, I discovered that I had apparently been placed into, or an application had been initiated for, debt review. This was not the service that was represented to me or agreed to by me. I wish to place it on record that I did not knowingly agree to enter into debt review. I was misinformed regarding the nature and purpose of the service being offered to me. I have not been struggling to repay my debts and did not request debt review or debt counselling. Accordingly, I hereby demand that you: Immediately cancel and withdraw any debt review application or related process initiated in my name; Immediately cancel any debit order mandate or payment authorisation associated with your services; Provide me with written confirmation that no further deductions will be made from my bank account; Provide me with the relevant Form 17 and any other documentation required to formally withdraw or cancel the process; Provide me with a complete copy of all documentation, agreements, mandates, applications, and information allegedly authorised by me; and Confirm in writing the exact steps taken to ensure that my details are removed from any debt review or debt counselling process that I did not knowingly authorise. For the avoidance of doubt, I do not consent to the continuation of any debt review or debt counselling process arising from the telephone conversation described above. Any alleged consent obtained from me was based on a material misrepresentation of the service being offered. I have attached the documentation that I received from your company for your consideration. Should this matter not be resolved immediately, I reserve all my rights to escalate the matter to the relevant regulatory and legal authorities, including the National Credit Regulator, the relevant consumer protection authorities, and the appropriate court or tribunal for relief. I also intend to seek urgent assistance regarding the cancellation of any arrangement that was initiated through what I believe was misleading or misrepresented information. I expect your written response and confirmation of cancellation without unnecessary delay.
