NATIONAL CONSUMER COMMISSION FAILED ME

NATIONAL CONSUMER COMMISSION FAILED ME

I bought a car in August 2022 from Motus. On the 17th of September—barely two weeks later—it broke down. First for Women assisted me with towing it to the nearest Toyota dealership, but the dealership refused to repair the vehicle, refund me, or cancel the contract.

I referred the matter to MIOSA, who ruled in favour of the dealership, claiming that my “driving style” caused the failure. In April 2024, I escalated the matter to the NCC. They provided me with login details to track the progress, but the last recorded action on my case was in September 2024. Since then—over a year later—there has been no communication from the NCC, despite my repeated follow-ups.

I even had to tow the car back to the dealership at my own cost. To this day, the car is still at the dealership, and the bank has blacklisted me. I am now a victim of unfair listing by the bank.

The very ombudsman institutions created to protect consumers’ rights are failing us, and there is nowhere to report them. The NCC has failed me—completely.
