Based on recent customer reviews, the National Consumer Commission is described as largely unresponsive once a complaint has been lodged. Consumers report receiving reference numbers and automated acknowledgements, then hearing nothing further, with named investigators and managers reportedly ignoring follow-up emails. Frustration centres on stalled tracing of non-responsive suppliers, motor dealership and banking disputes dragging on for months or years, and a public complaints inbox that rejected external mail. A few consumers praised efficient, valuable outcomes, but most felt the process lacked clarity, urgency and visible enforcement.

Absolutely USELESS
I tried logging a complaint on 5 August via the eservice portal, which proved unsuccessful. I then emailed my entire case, including a WeTransfer link with all relevant attachments, to *** on the same day. I received no autoresponse, nor did I receive a notification that my WeTransfer files were downloaded. I tried to email them again today to request that they confirm receipt of my original mail when I received an autoresponse saying that "the email address only accepts emails from people in its organisation or from the approved senders list". Now, I ask you, what is the point of having a complaints email address for the public to utilise if you set it to not accept external emails???? Who, if anyone, is in charge of the NCC & can they kindly educate their IT department on what a "public email address" is!!?

National Debt Association (Pty) Ltd Registration Number: ***
Dear Sir/Madam, I respectfully submit this formal complaint against National Debt Association (Pty) Ltd regarding what I believe to be misleading conduct, misrepresentation, unfair business practices, and the ******** initiation of a debt review process, which has caused me significant financial prejudice. On or about 21 July 2026, I received a telephone call from representatives of National Debt Association. During the conversation, they created the impression that they were acting on behalf of, or in association with, the National Credit Regulator (NCR). I was informed that I had been identified because I was maintaining my debt repayments well and that they could assist me. Based on these representations, the company proceeded to obtain limited information from my credit profile/ClearScore. However, they did not conduct a proper affordability assessment or adequately determine whether I was over-indebted before initiating the debt review process with my credit providers, including Standard Bank. When I realised the implications of the process, I immediately requested that it be cancelled. Standard Bank advised me that the necessary debt review cancellation documentation was required from the debt counsellor. Despite numerous attempts to contact National Debt Association on their published telephone number, ***, the company has remained unreachable and has failed to provide any assistance or guidance. It is deeply concerning that a company can successfully communicate with financial institutions to place a consumer under debt review, yet become completely inaccessible when the consumer seeks assistance to rectify or cancel a process that was initiated under misleading circumstances. As a direct result of the company’s conduct, I have suffered financial inconvenience, unnecessary stress, and restrictions on my banking facilities. I believe that consumers are entitled to transparent, lawful, and ethical treatment, and that businesses operating within the credit industry should be held accountable when they fail to comply with the law and accepted standards of professional conduct. I respectfully request that your office investigate this matter as a matter of urgency and determine whether National Debt Association (Pty) Ltd has comp**** with all applicable legislation, regulatory requirements, and consumer protection principles. I further request that appropriate intervention be taken to: * Facilitate the immediate cancellation of the debt review process where applicable. * Ensure that any incorrect or misleading information submitted to credit providers and credit bureaus is rectified. * Investigate the conduct of National Debt Association (Pty) Ltd for possible contraventions of applicable legislation and regulatory requirements. * Take any enforcement or corrective action deemed appropriate should any wrongdoing be established. I confirm that I am in possession of documentary evidence, correspondence, call records, and other supporting information, which can be provided upon request to assist with your investigation. I kindly request written acknowledgement of receipt of this complaint together with a reference number and feedback on the steps that will be taken to investigate this matter. Thank you for your attention to this serious complaint. I trust that your office will give this matter the urgent consideration it deserves. Yours faithfully, Thabang Ngwenya Cell: ***

Bad customer service from the NCC and our complaints not taken into consideration. We mean less to the NCC and now we don't know where to go as desperate and helpless customers.
There is a lady by the name of Fikile Ntuli i have sent her an email since May 25th and up to this day she is not coming back to me or responding to my email and i feel we not considered or taken serious as consumers and we dont even get the help we desparate for.I had the matter with NCC and i believe i was unfairly treated because the matter was not dealt with accordingly. Ouma Ramaru from CGSO reffered me to Fikile Ntuli and up to this day no response from her.How do you do that to customers. Not respond or dealt with a matter reffered to you.

Ongoing Delay and Lack of Feedback – National Consumer Commission (NCC)
I lodged a complaint with the (***/01/0255) regarding a dispute with a dealership that has consistently failed to respond to any attempts at engagement. While I appreciate that my case was acknowledged and eventually placed on the tracing list due to the supplier’s non-responsiveness, I am becoming increasingly concerned about the lack of progress and communication. On 19 March 2026, I was informed that a complaint form would be hand-delivered to the supplier to facilitate engagement. However, more than a month later, there has been no confirmation that this step has been carried out. The only update on the portal (dated 12 April 2026) reflects the same status without any indication of further action. The supplier has a documented pattern of ignoring communication, including during the process, which makes timely intervention even more critical. At this stage, I am simply seeking clarity and progress on the matter. I would appreciate more consistent communication and updates from the NCC regarding the steps being taken to resolve the complaint. I remain hopeful that the matter will be handled with the urgency and seriousness it requires.
