While Naked has a slick app and minimal paperwork, my experience has been disappointing. Over 5 years, I’ve claimed twice — once for hitting an animal, once for a ****** phone. The car claim dragged out for nearly a month with invasive investigations. The phone claim was worse. You can insure a phone for any amount, but they only pay the replacement value. I paid for R15,000 cover, but only got R10,000, minus excess. What were those higher premiums for? There’s no web access — if your phone’s ******, good luck claiming without another device. Buying a new phone to claim got me investigated like a *****ster. It’s been two weeks, still no payout. Meanwhile, premiums have risen while my car’s value has dropped. Naked’s service feels more predatory than premium. There’s better options out there.
Please note that cash settlements are handled on a reimbur*****t basis. This means that if you purchase a new device before we finalise your claim, we will compare the price you paid with the lowest cost available to us through our trusted suppliers and pay out the lesser of the two amounts.
It’s also important to regularly update your item’s insured value to reflect its current replacement cost. Electronic devices, such as phones, typically lose value over time as new models are released, while the value of other items may increase. Keeping your cover updated ensures you are not overpaying on your premium and that any potential payout is fair and aligned with the actual market value of your item at the time of the claim
