Unsatisfied
I am lodging a formal complaint against Naked Insurance regarding the handling of my building insurance flood claim.
Claim logged: 02 January 2026 Cause: Severe storm and flooding
We were away on holiday and only discovered the flooding when we returned home. The flood caused damage to the kitchen cupboards, bedroom cupboards, and an internal door leading into the house.
Naked Insurance is only willing to cover the replacement of cupboard carcasses, which is inadequate for flood damage. There is already visible mould present, confirming that water has penetrated multiple components. Partial repairs will not restore the property to its pre-loss condition and leave ongoing health, durability, and value concerns.
The assessor reported “poor roof maintenance” as a contributing factor. However, no clear evidence has been provided to show that the roof was damaged before the storm. This conclusion is questionable given that the damage occurred during a severe weather event while the house was unoccupied.
Additionally, the assessor caused dents to the roof during the inspection, raising concerns about the accuracy and professionalism of the assessment.
The water-damaged internal door was also excluded entirely from the quotation.
Overall, this claim appears to be handled in a manner aimed at minimising the settlement rather than fairly restoring the insured loss.
I expect this matter to be addressed urgently and resolved fairly.
