Unacceptable service From Naked insurance (hollard)

On 1 March 2024 at approximately 11:30 we were involved in a armed ******* at our home (20 Marthinus road, Florentia, Alberton). myself and my wife was at work but unfortunately our domestic worker was at home and was held at gunpoint and tied up for the ********s to do what they do best and ransacked our home. Luckily no one was injured. CPS and SAPS was of great service but cant say the same thing about Naked Insurance which is underwritten by Hollard. The person who was assigned to handle our claim David P was a great help during this whole ordeal and want to compliment and thank him for his service but that is basically where it stopped. A validator (Michelle Domingo) was assigned to come and visit to question myself regarding the items that was ****** and our domestic worker regarding what happened. firstly Michelle brought her daughter along which I welcomed sincerely but I think it is utterly unprofessional in bringing your kid along to such a sensitive case. We thought Naked sent Michelle to truly help, see and believe what we went trough. In conclusion to out our case/claim we realized Naked sent Michelle to validate our items ****** and what still currently is inside our home to see how much they can score. We are currently insured for R150 000 contents which is more or less an accurate statement to make and for what we can afford which we app**** for online "no questions asked" - immediate cover, nice system until they hit you and you lose. Michelle suddenly validated our home to roughly R200 000 which penalized us apparently because we were under insured. We roughly lost R65 000 (police case nr 15/3/2024) of contents and clearly isn't near the cover for what we are insured for. After Michelle's validation the conclusion was made to only pay us R 32 028.35 where the excess must still be taken of. The reasons was given that all items above R5000 must be notified. This definitely wasn't the case when we app**** for cover. Michelle didn't even tell me that although she knew. Once again tried to score for the insurance. She continuously complimented our home and all of the contents to her daughter just to confirm some sort of adjustment that was needed to be made I presume. I call that sly. If I claimed for more than R 150 000 then I would have understood the problem. Our claim is not even halve of what we are covered for and only wanted fair treatment. Now Naked is claiming we didn't own halve of the items. I call that utterly unfair. Michelle was inside our home and I explained where everything was. She clearly acted as if she believed me. She obviously saw a loophole to save Naked some money and advised Naked accordingly. So we thought this online insurance would make life easier. Apparently not when you start working with people trying to do honest clients in. I will definitely not recommend Naked insurance to any one if this is the type of service one gets. Funny enough how David P who worked with the claim understood my frustration and tried to help from his side and was also shut down. I cant handle the fact that Naked will gladly accept your application online to receive your monthly debit order, but when it is time to show you are there for your people and care for your honest living clients you look for a way to do them in. Unacceptable Naked insurance. I will not leave this here.

Hi Ryno

After our assessors completed their investigation, it was discovered that there was a discrepancy between the insured value of your property and its actual value at the time of the incident. As a result of being underinsured, the settlement amount was adjusted in accordance with the principle of average, which may have resulted in a lower payout than you anticipated. We want to assure you that we take your concerns seriously, and we recognise the importance of ensuring that our clients fully understand their coverage and its implications.

We understand that the principle of average can be confusing, and we regret any inconvenience this may have caused. Our goal is to provide transparent and fair services to all our clients, and we apologise if this was not adequately communicated to you.

Your satisfaction is our top priority, and we are committed to addressing any issues you may have encountered. If you would like to discuss your claim further or if there's anything else we can assist you with, please do not hesitate to reach out to us directly.
