SHOCKING SERVICE
I am extremely disappointed with how my claim has been handled by Naked Insurance. I was involved in a car accident on 9 July 2025 that was not my fault. An MSC truck collided with my vehicle, yet I was required to pay a R10,000 excess. At the time, I was assured that this amount would be recovered from the third party and refunded to me. Fast forward a year later, and I am still no closer to a resolution. It has been a constant back-and-forth between Naked and the third party. The third party claims that the driver was not acting on their behalf, while Naked appears unable or unwilling to effectively resolve the matter. As a customer, I expected my insurer to take ownership of the recovery process and advocate on my behalf. Instead, I have spent the last year chasing updates with no meaningful progress and no refund of my excess. The lack of urgency, communication, and resolution has been incredibly frustrating. After a full year, I feel let down by the service I have received and disappointed by how this claim has been managed.
Thank you for sharing your concerns with us, and we completely understand your frustration.
Please be assured that there have been no intentional delays on our side. As our subrogation team has previously communicated, the matter has been referred for litigation due to the third-party insurer's lack of cooperation. Our attorneys are now in the process of issuing and serving a summons, which requires additional time as the correct legal procedures must be followed.
Unfortunately, recoveries are never guaranteed, and there is no definitive timeline for resolution. Your excess can only be refunded once we have successfully recovered the funds from the responsible party, and we are unable to reimburse it before then.
We appreciate that paying an excess is disappointing, particularly where you do not believe you were at fault. However, the excess is the agreed contribution payable in terms of your policy when a claim is lodged.
We remain committed to pursuing the recovery and will keep you updated on any significant developments.
