Non-existed paused cover as they still charge you more than normal price
I am with Naked and I was happy and even considering moving my other policies to them. Actually I have just did a quote last week Friday and I was about to move it to them this month. Unfortunately I got the shock this morning. Due to the lockdown I paused my cover and activated it when I went out. This happened on a ON and OFF basis since April. My premium was R784.00 monthly under normal circumstances which obviously would change due to the pauses around the lockdown. To my shock this morning I found out they debited my account R1444.00 which is almost double my normal premiums. Note they did debit in April and also May although in May it was around 30% or so of the normal amount which is also understandable since the car was on stationery cover. I contact them and am told that the amount is correct. In May the debit was low and for June the debit is for the month of June (R784) plus the amount of the ON and OFF pauses for May. This will add to the amount debited in May. According to them for the month of May (some money already paid) still needs an extra R700.00 even though it was paused for some time. How did I save by selecting stationery cover if I still have to pay double premiums for June with some money aimed for May?
Please cancel the cover and refund me all the money paid. Clearly I'm going to have a headache come claiming time when you can give me such for just lockdown pauses.
Our payments work as follows: when we collected your premium on the first of May, your accident cover was paused. Our system, therefore, collected only ten percent on the basis that you will remain on stationary cover for the whole month. When you resumed your accident cover during the month of May, our system kept tabs of the days for which you had full comprehensive cover.
At the beginning of the next month (June), our system collected the premium we still need to charge for each of these days of comprehensive cover during May, as well as your full comprehensive premium for June.
So at the start of May you paid only ten percent of your comprehensive premium and in addition, you had the benefit of enjoying full coverage on the days you were driving, but only paid for it in arrears.
